When you want to win a mail order bride's heart, writing love letters takes the place of conversation and face to face contact.

O.K., some people - probably you too - don’t like writing. Correspondence has a good side though. Men often find it easier to describe intimate feelings or personal matters on paper (or computer screen) instead of talking about it.

Women love it when a man writes from his heart. And yes, YOU can do it.

If you both do it well, letter writing is an excellent way to build a relationship. But don’t fall in love with printed or emailed letters. You can only establish a real relationship once you meet your lady. Writing love letters is only a start.

But what to write about?

First: write your lady about yourself. Which means: your inner world.

Oops, big words! And even in bold letters! :-)

But don’t worry. You don't have to be a professional writer or a psychologist. Just be honest about your feelings, your dreams, the things you value, the thing you like to do, all that says something about you as a person.

If you have never written about yourself that way, try it. Try again if you are not satisfied. Let your best friend proofread your letter. Maybe that makes you feel more comfortable. Don't be afraid! I repeat: women love it when a man writes from his heart.

Second: don’t write anything negative.

Third: show interest in your woman, her relatives, her activities. Ask questions!

You are searching a lady that loves you. A woman that wants be loved too. Showing interest in all she does is a way to give her this feeling.

Writing love letters is only done well if you also know what NOT to write.

Cars, income figures and the number of bedrooms in your house don't bother women very much - if she really loves you! But she will want to know if you can provide her.

Don't mention sexual subjects as long as there is no real relationship. Most mail order brides come from quite conservative countries. They can be passionate lovers, but talking about sex may be very unusual in her culture.

The longer correspondence lasts, the more photos you should send.

Leave out photos showing you while drinking alcohol. Women that seek a foreign husband do not want to marry a man who drinks, and if she sees you drunk on a picture, she might get a wrong impression.
Also: don't speak in detail about previous relationships while writing love letters. You have plenty of time to speak about that later, if you want.

She may want to know why you are looking for a foreign bride. Tell her. But don't write what you dislike about Western women. Be positive.

If things get really serious, surprise your lady with attention. Give her unexpected phone calls, just to say hello to her. Send her a rose or a nice bouquet of lilies.

Do NOT send her expensive gifts before you meet. Your woman has to love YOU, not your bank account.

Unfortunately, writing love letters to Russia, The Philippines, Brazil or Colombia is not something for the impatient. It usually takes weeks before letters from the US or Europe are delivered at the address of your lady.

There are marriage agencies that offer mail forwarding. However, things go quicker if you leave out snail mail. If your mail order bride doesn’t have email herself, but is able to access the Internet, ask her to open an account through a free service like Yahoo! or (for Russians) Mail.ru.

Knowing that she will get your kind words soon, will make writing love letters much easier.
